Mountbatten House, Basingstoke

RMF were delighted to have been appointed to complete the raised access flooring installation at Mountbatten House. The building formerly known as Gateway House it was originally built to be the home of paper manufacturers Wiggins Teape in 1973.

The project is widely known as a local treasure and known as ‘The hanging gardens of Basingstoke’ thanks to its impressive landscaped exterior.

The purpose of the fit out was to update and repair both the building and gardens so it can continue its legacy for generations to come.

RMF’s scope of works spanned over 15,000m2 of floor plate and included;

  • Installation of new RMF Titan raised floor panels to Levels 1,3,4,5,6 and 7
  • Installation of existing raised floor panels reclaimed from site onto Level 2
  • Ramps to all floors
  • T42 Swing bag testing on all floors to confirm pedestal adhesion
  • Cutting to bespoke ‘star shaped’ columns on all floors
  • Installation of new raised floor to plant room in the ground floor

The building has been given a refreshed feel and is ready for new tenants to enjoy this iconic space. The building still retains some of its existing features with the plant room retaining some of the original equipment as homage to its history.

All of our works were completed on programme and as you can see from the below pictures to the highest standards.
