Black & White Building - Shoreditch
RMF were delighted to be appointed as the sole specialist raised flooring contractor for the Black and White Building in Shoreditch.
Sitting within a conservation area in the heart of London’s Shoreditch, the site of the original Victorian Black and White building involved complex logistical challenges. A historically restrictive site, the new six-storey 45,000 sq. ft. building will deliver an increase in new floor space over four times the existing, whilst also providing courtyards and roof terrace spaces.
Owned by The Office Group since 2013 as a flexible office and co-working space the project will see the site transformed into a high quality, flexible and social workspace highly appealing to the up and coming Shoreditch tech scene.
RMF’s scope of works were as follows;
- Supply and install 4,000m² of our RMF Eco range onto a new all steel PSA pedestal under structure
- Square edged cut outs for cable entry
- Acoustic pads – 500m²
The building was truly unique in that it is one of London’s largest cross-laminated timber buildings. The project has also eliminated the use of concrete above the ground floor slab and has been built entirely from timber and renewable sources. The project has achieved net zero carbon in construction and use, the use of the RMF Eco Range has contributed to the building achieving this.
RMF are extremely proud to have contributed to such a sustainable and pioneering project, yet another successful RMF Eco Range project completed.
